EaterWire: Umami Burger En Route, Doomie's Special Deal

New, 8 comments

MID-WILSHIRE—In the Hancock Park area, Adam Fleischman—the original founder of BottleRock Culver City, last seen at Vinoteque—will be opening a new restaurant called Umami Burger in a week or so. The concept is "fine dining fast food" with a focus on the flavors of umami, the fifth taste. The current ETA is February 16th, and as you can see, there's signage up. [EaterWire]

SOUTH GATE—For anyone interested in, ahem, not-so-fresh vegan food, or merely saying goodbye to the beloved Doomie's: "Instead of throwing all the unused food away, Doomie of Chinatown's about-to-be-closed vegan restaurant eponymously named after him will have a $10 all you can eat grub fest this weekend." [LAist]

TELEVISION—The first trailer for Marco Pierre White's new restaurant-themed reality show Chopping Block aired last night on NBC, and let's just say it's a tad dramatic: "I think they herd like sheep...I don't like sheep, unless I'm eating it...They do not know hard it's gonna to be." [EMD via ENY]
