San Francisco restaurant critic extraordinaire Michael Bauer takes another trip to Los Angeles to check out The Bazaar, XIV and Rivera, among others. In addition to noticing the LA phenomenon of pricey cocktails ranging up to $16, Baueriffic also notes the "reinvention" of the dining room: "At least three restaurants I visited had no traditional seating ... I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing; but it spotlights that the food -- no matter how good -- often takes the back seat to the experience." [Between Meals]
