MID-CITY—In the wake of the Campanile report earlier today, GM Jay Perrin jumps in the comments section to explain—quite well, we might add—the many challenges faced by restaurants dealing with the health inspectors. The entire piece is well worth a read, especially the part about the shower in the kitchen. [~ELA~]

BEVERLY HILLS—In chef shuffle news, Matthew Gladstone has left his executive chef position at the Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive. Gladstone had joined the hotel almost exactly a year ago; he plans to start on a new project after a few days off. [EaterWire]

MID-CITYB+S has a good progress report on the current state of affairs at the Corner Bakery, which looks to be firmly in the post-plywood phase. They'll start hiring at the end of the month. [B+S]

LOS ANGELESHumboldt Creamery came here in 2004, but now it's going to be selling all of its LA operations: "The plant has 50 employees and produces approximately 50 million ice cream novelties a year ... The creamery will begin immediately engaging in talks to sell the Los Angeles operation, according to a news release." [CCT]
