1) Culver City: The above shot of a liquor license notification—and some literal plywood—comes from the former Stellar Hardware site on Main Street in Culver City. The DBA is simply Lunch, but the company is Tasty Eats. Perhaps related to this? [PLYWOOD]
2) Universal City Walk: Speaking of liquor license action, a tipster passes along word that someone has finally claimed the shuttered Cafe Tu Tu Tango on City Walk. Per the application, something called Samba Brazilian Steakhouse is moving in, which LAist thinks could be related to the Mirage's Vegas version. [PLYWOOD]
3) Mid-City: Blackburn + Sweetzer spots a newcomer in the former 8486 Cafe space on West 3rd. Due in July, it's going to be a "fine California BBQ" eatery called The Smoking Joint. That kind of seedy establishment never would have flown in Playa del Ray. [B+S]
4) West Hollywood: A tipster, on the state of affairs at the incoming Pizza Fusion location in WeHo, which seems to be a ways off: "i live on hayworth ave in west hollywood, at the top of my street is the 7950 sunset building, which as you know is soon to be the home of sansai, zenburger and fresh bites ... i walked by to see two men poring over architectural plans and making marks on the raw concrete floor in one of the spaces." [PLYWOOD]
