It seems like almost every restaurant that been in construction mode lately has encountered delays, and Greg Morris' upcoming Hollywood foodie shop, The Oaks Gourmet Market, is no exception. The artisanal food store and cafe was originally slated to open two weeks ago, however the debut has now been pushed back by a month to mid-September. While the market will carry 55 beers, 350 wines, and over 60 different cheeses as locally sourced as possible, here are some more specifics. Let's start with coffee. Bob Marley's son Roan owns a organic and sustainably-grown coffee company called Marley Coffee which Morris has chosen as the house brand. To pair with that coffee will be pastries from Delilah Bakery (Echo Park) including their bacon rosemary scones and lemon pistachio tea cake, among others sweets from Cake Monkey (Burbank). Microbrews to look for: Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Old Chub Scottish Ale, Delirium Tremens and St. Peters Wheat Beer. And last but not least, also stocking the shelves will be some higher end products like caviar, truffles, foie gras, and preserved duck fat.
