Plywood Report: Sushi Mambo, Mignon, Coral Tree Cafe, Pas Updates

New, 11 comments

Silver Lake: A bit down the road, but spring 2010 will bring the opening of Sushi Mambo, a project from Anat Escher, owner of The Bungalow Club and Barbarella Bar. The hunt for executive chef is on. The criteria? One who is agile in the sushi, oysters and South American fare department. Seriously. All that plus the 5,000-square foot space which will be located above Barbarella Bar with an outdoor patio and Miami-esque design. " "Sexy" and bright colors, outdoor bungalows and a very large outdoor elliptical bar. [PLYWOOD]

Downtown: Food GPS brings word that Bacaro LA owners Santos Uy and Daniel Kronfli will open another wine bar near Cole's later this year called Mignon. Appropriately titled since "mignon" means small/cute in French, the space will encompass a mere 677-square feet with an island bar and surrounding barstools. And following with the French theme, Mignon will serve “off the beaten path” French wines plus cheese, charcuterie and small bites. [Food GPS]

Brentwood: On Friday Coral Tree Cafe tweeted, "Coral Tree Cafe Brentwood re-opens August 20! Are you ready for your favorite free wi fi spot to serve you something delicious?" [Twitter]

Pasadena: It's a tough economy, especially in Pasadena, and Brigham Yen shares a ton of turnovers and updates. Kingston Cafe poses for a come back with recently installed signage, Creme De La Crepe posts signage as well, Mama Edda's pizza is taking over the old Manny's Pizza space at 16 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Tani Sushi has turned into Blue Fish, Sugar Fix cupcakes comes to the corner of Green and Raymond, Miche Bakery is in construction mode, plus more. [PUwBY]
