Plywood Report: Food Fair by Diego, Vardo, 140 South, The Veggie Grill

New, 5 comments

1) Mid-City: Signage was recently spotted for Food Fair by Diego at the small strip mall on Beverly just East of Fairfax. The space was formerly occupied by a Mexican-Italian hybrid called La Paisano, any additional tips on this upcoming opening are welcome. [EaterWire]

2) Venice: Another series of setbacks, this time for Vardo cafe on Main Street. A recent visit brought news that the Mediterranean eatery would open any day which isn't surprising because the space looks ready to serve. [EaterWire]

3) Pasadena: In Smith brothers news, the Crocodile Cafe on Lake is still operating as the Crocodile Cafe, despite the previously reported news almost a year ago of a makeover and rename to 140 South. According to an employee, the restaurant has undergone a "facelift" and the name change should become official very soon. Ninety percent of the menu will remain the same but with the remodel will also come a few new dishes. [EaterWire]

4) West Hollywood: Finally, a confirmed date on the upcoming debut of the newest Veggie Grill location: September 29 in 8000 Sunset Strip by Crescent Heights and Sunset. As for the menu, expect the same offerings available at other locations with the permanent addition of The Chickin' Caesar Wrap (currently a special at other outposts). [EaterWire]
