MID-CITY— Starting today The Foundry on Melrose is now open seven days a week, as compared to six days for the past two years. Also, as an added bonus, chef Eric Greenspan is offering 25% off all food Monday nights for those that work in the restaurant industry. [EaterWire]
MOVIELAND— On Friday the next animated foodie flick Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs hits theaters. Squid Ink caught up with writers/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a Q&A, and when asked " If it were to rain edible foodstuff in L.A., what would you want it to be?" Phil responded, "Hm. I'd go with the squash blossom pizza from Mozza, white corn ravioli from Capo, and all the Umami burgers." YUM. [SI]
DOWNTOWN— After falling "two months behind on rent for a delayed, under-construction coffee house on Olvera Street," owner Don Camacho (Camacho’s Incorporated) asked the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument Board of Commissioners for a break on payments owed. Unfortunately, his request was denied, but Camacho says that he will find a way to come up with the money to see the project through. While the restuarant was originally slated to open January 2009, the new debut date is set for December. [LADN]
