In other Dish news comes the official debut of Rockwell, the new restaurant and lounge located behind (and attached to) Vermont Restaurant. Conceived by design firm Rhetroactive’s Steve Trowbridge (Tropicana Resort & Casino), the 6,000-square-foot space features three levels of loitering room all designed around a 30-foot tall Coral Tree which supposedly blossoms in the winter. As a whole Rockwell boasts both modern and rustic elements from the angular blue staircase to the rough stone exterior. As for edibles, Vermont's executive chef Stephane Beaucamp has created a seasonal small plate menu that ranges from flatbreads to sliders to buttermilk-brined fried little chicken with most items priced between $8 and $14. Drinks include a selection of interesting craft beers like the Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat, and a full liquor selection with a slew of shmancy cocktails. 1714 N. Vermont Ave.; 323-669-1550; website
