EaterWire: New Chef At The Bazaar, LA Starbucks Star To Shutter, New Food Truck Concept for Marked5

BEVERLY HILLS— Now that current Top Chef Vegas contestant Michael Voltaggio is situated at The Dining Room in The Langham, SBE has been on the lookout for a new chef de cuisine. According to their Twitter feed last week, the man who will take over where Voltaggio left off is Joshua Whigham, a D.C.-based chef who has worked at several of Jose Andres' other eateries including Cafe Atlantico and Zaytinya. MID-CITYStarbucks did announce that it would shutter 200 locations across the country, and it appears as though store #504 in the Beverly Connection is one of the many. As of Thursday, caffeine addicts will need to find their fix elsewhere. [B+S]

DOWNTOWN— Next Saturday Red Bull will host its first ever non-motorized Los Angeles Soapbox Race at Grand and 5th. What does that mean? All "vehicles" must be man-powered! However, the secret is that Marked5, purveyors of the rice patty burger thing, will launch both a new menu, as well as a new food truck concept which they recently acquired. On your mark, get set, gooooo. [EaterWire]
