1) Encino: This weekend marked the soft opening of John O’Groats Grille and Pub, an offshoot of John O’Groats on Pico in West LA. Opened almost 30 years ago, the restaurant has become known for its American comfort food and the new outpost serves the exact same menu "down to the biscuits and fresh jams: raspberry and apricot." John O’Groats' executive chef for 18 years, Guillermo Umanzor, has switched over to the Encino location to ensure all food is executed at the JOG standard. Food GPS has some photos of the grub please a few addition details, watch for an official debut on Wednesday. 16120 Ventura Boulevard; 818 501 91436; website
2) Downtown: Urban Daddy dishes on a new club venue that has hit the corner of Hill and 8th aptly titled 8Hill. Look for a 65-foot bar, neon lights, the expected liquors, loud music...zzzzzzzzzzz. 801 S Hill St.; 213-489-4342
