Locals Sports Bar Opens, Freshii Headed West, MORE

New, 4 comments

MID-WILSHIRE— Last week Locals Sports Bar & Grill (not to be confused with Local 1205) soft opened, serving typical bar fare as evidenced above. However, owners stress that "all the food at Locals is fresh. We don't freeze anything. We buy it fresh every day. All the sauces for the wings are homemade, fries are hand cut upon order, mozzarella sticks are homemade (cut and breaded in house)." A second location is currently in the works for Long Beach. AROUND TOWN— More healthy and eco-conscious fast casual fare headed for LA. Freshii, a build-your-own salad/sandwich/rice bowl chain with units in Chicago and Toronto plans to open 10 shops around LA, the first of which should open mid-2010. Planned locations include Westwood, Studio City, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Culver, The Farmers Market, and Miracle Mile. [EaterWire]

MAR VISTA— Grub Street shares intel on two recently opened west side Thai eateries both on Washington Blvd. Culver Cafe has one of those mega huge menus (over 70 dishes to choose from, oh my) and serves "Thai CalAzian Cuizine" according to the website. Meanwhile, slightly further west sits Celadon Thai Kitchen which opened last month. For a full rundown, read today's Early Bird LAT report. [GS]
