Tech Blog Lalawag reports that Mike Prasad, the social media guru who helped develop the Kogi BBQ truck brand -- including its cult following on twitter -- is no longer working as a part of Roy Choi's growing restaurant empire. Yesterday, Prasad tweeted: "I'm officially no longer working for Kogi, so please don't ask me if I can get the truck to show up anywhere. K THX!." Among other things, Prasad is credited for developing the idea of "the Kogi Effect." Why the exact reasons for Prasad's departure are still unkown, the rumors are that the split was not amicable, and possibly related to Prasad's relationship with Kogi PR rep Alice Shin.
