A Series Of Calamities Cause Newcomb's Ranch To Close

New, 4 comments

The rain in LA brings sad news today for fans of Newcomb's Ranch. The only restaurant for miles in the Angeles National Forest, Newcomb's has been a haven for hikers, bikers, campers and other adventurous day-trippers looking for a simple fare and a cold beer. Unfortunately, with its unique location comes unique difficulties. Since owner Frederick Rundall took over in late 2001, the restaurant has been threatened by wildfires, mudslides, road closures (most recently due to the heavy rain). Per LA Times, Rundall announced that he will be "tear[ing] the place down". [LAT] —Yvonne Ip
