Starbucks has done it again. Although the company's recent introduction of instant coffee, healthier menu items, and "hip" new non-Starbucks Starbucks shops may have seemed like batty ideas at first, the coffee co. is reporting a first quarter net income of $241.5 million, way up from the $23.9 million take from the same period last year. Another company that's also reporting huge profits from 2009: Edible Arrangements, the supplier of those weird flower-shaped fruit baskets that your coworkers are so disappointed by. [Eater National]
