LA Mobile Vendors Set To Carry Letter Grades

New, 9 comments

Game on. Yesterday afternoon health officials voted to decide whether mobile vendors (from cart to truck) should have to pass mandatory health department inspections and carry letter grades just like restaurants around town. According to Food Safety News, LA vehicles "will soon be subject to the same food safety rules as restaurants in Los Angeles County...That means rogue food trucks will have to submit to posting their food safety letter grades." Further, trucks may also have to file route maps so that inspectors can track them down as opposed to using Twitter or Facebook for their whereabouts. As with restaurants, trucks that score below a C will get shut down, and as the NY Times most appropriately described the situation, this is the "ultimate sign that this faddiest of food fads is going mainstream."
