K-TOWN— LA Weekly took note of it, as did The Chocolate of Meats, here now video footage announcing/depicting/celebrating the expansion of Bricia Lopez's Pal Cabron (a Goldster fave), taking over the original (sniff sniff) Guelaguetza on 8th. The menu at this new outpost will remain pretty much the same as the original with the addition of four new tacos. [YouTube, LAW]
REDONDO BEACH— Feast reports on six week old Sophie's Place, a new "California gastropub" on Catalina Avenue. Expect indoor and patio dining, over 50 bottled beers plus six on tap, and offerings like beer-battered cauliflower, salads, and half-pound burgers. [Feast]
MID-CITY— Blah blah blah more froyo. Grub Street spots signage for Nubi, a self-serve chain with a smattering of SoCal swirleries. However, this spot on Olympic north of Fairfax marks the franchise's first LA location. [Grub Street]
