Two and a half years ago now, chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer (Aureole-NYC, Vegas) debuted Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdale's within South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. While there's always room in SoCal for culinary talent, SIV wasn't a fan of the restaurant off the bat and several months after its inception she dropped a mere half star on the place, ouch. Anyway, Nation's Restaurant News brings word that Palmer has decided to convert part of the aforementioned fine dining establishment into DG Burger, which stands for Damn Good Burger, a more casual space to dine. The restaurant kicks off tomorrow and, interestingly, the addition of DG Burger did not at all affect the number of seats within his namesake eatery. DG Burger itself can accommodate 40 guests and, despite the name, will offer a concise menu (salads, sandwiches) with only one seasonally changing version of the signature DG Burger: "Black Angus beef topped with cabbage, tomato, red onion and a secret sauce served on a semolina-potato bun" priced at $7.95. That's a deal.
