Steven Fretz Plus Curtis Stone To Open Joint Restaurant

Toward the summer's end, XIV chef Steven Fretz announced his departure from the Michael Mina/sbe eatery with initial plans to pursue his own restaurant. A few days later Fretz revealed that he was amidst negotiations for a "well known property" around town, and that the eatery would feature fish and handmade pasta in a casual environment. Here now, the latest. Over the past few years, while working at XIV, Fretz became friendly with Curtis Stone, that Australian celebrity chef and contestant on Celebrity Apprentice. When Fretz left XIV Stone was looking for an executive chef to run Stone Foods Inc. (the umbrella company that encompasses Stone's TV shows, cookbooks, cooking line, etc.), so for the time being that's where Fretz had landed. But, there's a restaurant at the end of the tunnel. Right now the duo are brainstorming ideas for an LA eating establishment which is currently "in the works," according to Fretz, though no specifics just yet.
