Downtown's Arts District pub Royal Clayton's abruptly shuttered this weekend despite only recently expanding its hours. This missive went out Saturday on Royal Clayton's Facebook page:
"To all our Loyal Patrons we want to thank you for 5 glorious years on Industrial Street. Royal Clayton's is relocating Downtown. We will unveil our new home in the New Year. A special Thanks to everyone in the Arts District, The Biscuit and Toy Factory Lofts, Linear City and our amazing Staff. Our Memories of the Art's District are stellar. We wish everyone the merriest of holidays."For a long time the pub, located on the ground floor of the Toy Factory Lofts, was the only destination in southeastern Downtown for dining other than Church & State, but faced increased competition in the last year from neighborhood newcomers Villain's Tavern, Toddy G's Pizza and Swill Automatic. There's no word on a time line or destination for its alleged relocation. [EaterWire] — David Duman
