Here now, a sneak peek inside The Federal, the new bar and restaurant coming to spice up Lankershim from owner Morgan Margolis CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment. Yup, it's another gastropub situation over here headed up by GM Ed Levy with New American eats crafted by Executive Chef Shad Davis (The Belmont, Toast and The Counter). Future menu items include: wild turkey meatballs, IPA spare ribs with melted leeks, purple halibut over roasted root vegetables, raw salads, fries with sea salt and herbs. And since this is a bar, well, four bars to be exact (two downstairs, one upstairs), future patrons can expect 20 craft beers on tap like Victory Prima Pils, Dogfish Head 60 Min. IPA, Allagash Black, Telegraph White Ale, Stone IPA, etc, plus an extensive spirits and wine list.

Margolis hired designer Rod Sellard from Montage Designs to preserve the feel of the building which opened as a Prohibition-era bank in 1924. Check out all that exposed brick, brass-framed terrazzo entry, with additional art deco touches still in the works.

The ground floor is separated into two rooms, each with its own distinct style and bar, then upstairs exists a third indoor bar, a terrace bar, and private VIP room. While The Federal is obviously not yet complete, the debut is set for January 28.
