Doughboys Owner and Founder Frank Waldman Dies

New, 12 comments

Sad news this morning. The staff at Doughboys has confirmed the passing of its owner and founder, Frank Waldman. Waldman passed away after complications from a recent surgery. It was also known that he battled diabetes, and no additional details have been released. Waldman established Doughboys on 3rd Street back in 1992. The bakery received accolades for its red velvet cake and slowly expanded the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Frank Waldman was a French-trained chef, but he cooked food that was accessible and affordable. Doughboys hit a bump in the road in 2007, eventually closing for 2 years due to alleged code violations. On the backs of its many supporters and fans, the restaurant re-opened just about a month ago.
