Loteria Studio City, Ready To Officially Serve Tomorrow

Loteria Studio City has had its share of start up hiccups, which, in LA, means it's paid the price and deserves to open its doors. Has anyone heard of a smooth restaurant opening anyway? So, thanks to LA water, power, and health inspectors, you can now safely make a reservation at Jimmy Shaw's newest Loteria outpost. There was that Open Table mishap earlier, but it's all been corrected and Friday is your first official shot at tasting Loteria on that side of the hill. As he takes over Los Angeles with his user-friendly version of Mexican cuisine, Shaw is still hands on, dealing in one moment with hiring new staff and talking to the press a second later. He was especially excited early on in the design process when he unraveled the dark space that was Gaucho Grill.

Now painted white, with potted trees and natural light streaming in from skylights, the place has a whole new feel - fresh, bright, energetic. According to staff on site at Loteria Studio City, the menu is the same as the other two locations, but they are still waiting for their alcohol license. No matter, order up a plate of sopes, tacos de papas and plan to wet your whistle elsewhere. After all of those beans and that melted cheese, may we suggest a digestif? Open Friday for lunch and dinner, and soon to open for breakfast too, Loteria Studio City may just be what the neighborhood needed. And, with a few Gaucho Grill spaces still up for grabs, maybe we can predict Mr. Shaw's next move?
