Checking In At Old Orso Space, New Italian Eatery Coming

Back in October came word that Orso, a restaurant which had maintained its spot on W 3rd Street for twenty years, was set to shutter. Sean MacPherson, proprietor of The Roger Room, Bar Lubitsch, and Jones became the proud new owner of the building with its gorgeous, iconic outdoor patio. Construction has started at the unnamed space which will become an Italian restaurant comparable to Orso and MacPherson is currently in the process of interviewing chefs here in LA, New York and San Francisco to run the kitchen. Fitting with the other establishments in the neighborhood (Locanda Veneta, Barefoot, Breadbar), the new Italian eatery will be anything but stuffy, think a newly beautified version of Orso’s old patio area, plus they’ve already tamed the trees out back. MacPherson hopes to open fall 2010.
