HANCOCK PARKAnother extra early report filed today from Queen Bee, SIV. On the subject of Osteria Mamma, "Mamma Loredana Cecchinato makes all her own pastas, just as she did at La Buca. It's a point of pride, even though a dried pasta would occasionally work better with a sauce than a fresh egg one...Pizzas are generous and good...The vibe is warm and friendly, the space basic but inviting." [LAT]

CULVER CITYAlso shacking up on Venice Blvd comes Villa Taco, taking over Diablos Tacos' former home. Grub Street brings word that the Mexican grill is "just a few weeks away" from its debut. [GS]

MEALS ON WHEELS— Six months after rolling out the Flying Pig Truck, co-owner and chef Joe Kim reveals that he plans to open three, yes, three restaurants around town. Fist up comes Butalani on Beverly Blvd, follwed by two and three, both called Flying Pig Cafe, one opening downtown, the other on Sunset near the CNN building. Each location will serve a different Asian fusion menu organized by Bottega Louie sous Anthony Calderon. [LAW]

AROUND TOWN— DD shares news that Breadbar's consulting chef, Noriyuki Sugie, has begun to roast coffee under his own label, Kuromame, and plans to open a cafe under the same name in the future. [DD]
