Inside Drai's Hollywood Three Part Venue, Debuts March 11

The top two floors of the shiny new W Hotel in Hollywood have become Vegasized thanks to imports Victor Drai and brothers Cy and Jessie Waits (the team behind Steve Wynn's Tryst and XS). First off, the space is HUGE with amazing glassed-in rooftop views of LA. Basically, Drai's is divided into three parts: pool/bar, restaurant, and club. While the club space isn't quite finished just yet, the 120-seat restaurant is now open to hotel guests for lunch from 11AM-3PM. The entire shebang opens to the public March 11, at which point lunch hours will change to 11AM-5PM daily with dinner served Wednesday through Sunday 5PM-10PM. The photos above show the penthouse pool/cabana area and the sandwiched-in patio restaurant where diners have the option to dine under the stars or under a roof. Chef Claude Segal, a Ma Maison alum from the 80s, has prepared a pretty standard American lunch menu: Seared Ahi-Tuna Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Steak Sandwhich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Fruit Plate. Dinner follows closely behind but foie gras, a few lobster preparations, and some Kobe spice it up a bit.

On the club side of things, it's like Vegas meets Studio 54 meets...Hollywood. There's a large lounge lined with banquettes, backed with red velvet tiles supposedly reminiscent of old Hollywood. Mirrored, ceiling-high columns punctuate those banquets and across from the banquettes is a full wall of floor to ceiling windows that look out onto Hollywood. The room opens up into a dance space with a DJ booth framed by a massive, carved wooden picture frame looking out onto the floor. Fun.
