The Magic Castle shares the property in question with Yamashiro Restaurant.
Sean MacPherson, known on both coasts for being a creative, determined hotel and restaurant producer (see also: Jones, Swingers, Bar Lubitsch, the old Orso space), has been lying kind of low on big purchases. Until this week. Last we heard of Sean MacPherson's dealings with the Magic Castle, things were up in the air. Today Curbed did some digging and comes forth with news from the SM camp. Seems our hotelier and restauranteur hasn't been happy about the stalled $55 Million deal to buy out the Magic Castle property. Despite what must be sinking property values, the sale is in some kind of limbo and Sean has sued to, well, get his way. We still don't know why things fell apart with the deal, but let's wait and let the lawyers duke it out. The sale still stipulates that the restaurant and club must be in operation regardless of who buys that slice of the hill, but could the concept change? Makes us wonder, maybe winning really is everything? [CurbedLA]
