Yet another business moves into the Alexandria. Welcome to a new homestyle Mexican eatery, Coronados Mexican Restaurant, brought to you by father and son due Gilbert and Robert Coronado. Set to open in the middle of May if approvals go as planned, Coronados will serve traditional Mexican fare minus the grease, with "moderate" prices, and a full bar focusing on cocktails made from scratch using fresh fruit. The team has scored an AOC and Lucques vet, Bonnie J., to helm the stoves, Bonnie J. will also take on the title as pastry chef to create hand-crafted Mexican pastries plus other sweet indulgences.
As for decor, don't expect too much going on here, "we want to stay simple and clean and highlight the already beautiful vintage interior it presently has," says Robert Coronado. He also plans to showcase work from local artists, "... we want to give the community a space where they can show thier talents...We want to be a part of the community and definately give back as we are able and business permits. So supporting us supports the community." [EaterWire]
