Carol Smith, former senior vice president and chief brand officer of Elle Group, was recently hired to oversee the Bon Appetit and the Gourmet brands. In a recent article with WWD she said she hopes to revive Gourmet and to perhaps create a “custom magazine,” where advertisers like Kraft or Target would produce a newsstand Gourmet magazine and own every ad.
