More changes come to downtown's Kyoto Grand Hotel. Last week came word that one of the hotel's eateries, A Thousand Cranes, had shuttered, and now comes news that the Garden Grill too is doneski and its replacement has already opened: Pangea Garden Lounge. An interesting choice since Garden Grill was a rather expensive Japanese restaurant that served teppanyaki supposedly at Tokyo levels of quality and authenticity, while newbie Pangea Garden Lounge seems to target more of a local nighttime crowd with "premium beverage service, cozy seating, and live entertainment on Friday nights," according to its website. Good luck competing with the other evening spots nearby which include The Edison, Varnish, among others.
