Chefs Picnic Club at the Bowl, Rosso Wine Expands, Run on Huckleberry Chicken

GLENDALE - Rosso, Glendale's popular Sparr Heights neighborhood wine shop and wine bar, announced it will be expanding into the adjacent storefront, doubling the size of the shop. In addition to offering an expanded inventory, owner Jeff Zimmitti will host tasting events with visiting winemakers and team up with local restaurants and chefs for wine dinners at Rosso's large communal table. Renovations are underway and the expansion should be completed late next month. [EaterWire]

HOLLYWOOD - For the third year in a row, Hollywood Bowl Magazine is offering its free Chefs Picnic Club program. Sign up for the email list to receive menu recipes from some of LA's top chefs, including Thomas Keller, Jose Andres, and Suzanne Goin. Each week a different chef will provide recipes for a three course picnic-friendly menu for summer trips to the Bowl. To sign up (and for a full list of participating chefs) go here. [EaterWire]

SANTA MONICA - Market-driven bakery/cafe Huckleberry got blindsided by its mention in Bon Appetit's list of the "Top Ten Best Places for Fried Chicken" and, for allegedly the first time ever, ran out of its Friday fried Jidori chicken special by 1PM, but everything should be back on track next week to get some of BA's best.
