Santa Monica dive 14 Below has been around for years. Though many are unaware, the original owners sold off the space that has served/serves as both a dive bar and performing venue for local bands, however its second round of proprietors basically ran the establishment into the ground until they were evicted about a year ago. The bar remained vacant for 10 or so months until its original owners stepped back up to the plate to reclaim their neglected child. They reopened in late February under the same name, 14 Below, however in one week the bar will shutter for an interior revamp and reopened with a new bar, more wooden embellishments, some fresh paint, and a brand new tbd name. Stay tuned. [EaterWire]
