Per LAFD's Twitter yesterday there was a "2-story commercial building with smoke showing from the roof"at 609 N. La Brea Ave, the street address for The Tar Pit. A follow-up tweet details that 48 firefighters were on the scene, and the fire took 19 minutes to contain. However, according to General Manager Jay Perrin, the fire actually took place across the street at Verrazano's Pizza (612 North La Brea Ave). Calls to Verrazano were not answered. Regardless, The Tar Pit is open for business today and over the weekend. Sounds like the LAFD's got to re-sort their paperwork... [EaterWire] — Yvonne Ip
