Paul Shoemaker boasts quite the resume. He started his career off at Water Grill, moved with Michael Cimarusti to open Providence, then in a moment's notice succeeded Walter Manzke at Bastide. Those were big shoes to fill. Now, the chef has finally decided to branch out on his own with the opening of Savory this coming July at the Point Dume Village Shopping Center in Malibu. As the website foreshadows, Savory will serve California cuisine, so that means locally-sourced, sustainable, organic, farmers market fare. [EaterWire]
