On an unassuming stretch of Wilshire Blvd near Bundy, Layla Mediterranean Cafe soft opened this week for lunch. Push past the large swinging wooden door into a serene sanctuary with a small trickling water fountain, a simply designed dining space beneath hanging lights, a handful of tables down the center of the room, and rows of small plants flanking the outskirts. Layla's menu is divided into salads, sandwiches, and larger grilled plates, pretty basic offerings like a California salad or smoked turkey sandwich, the Mediterranean selections become more apparent in the larger plates. There's a fillet shish kabab, a chicken tender kabab, in addition to grilled salmon and white fish. Come by 10AM to 2PM.
