Last December, Comme Ca's executive chef Michael David (note, he had been on board since the inception of the restaurant) left the French brasserie, peacefully or not, and word just in that he will cook on a new mobile vehicle. The truck, Great Balls on Tires, boasts slogans like "Meat Our Balls," and "Voted Best Balls in L.A." (by?), and according to a press blurb allows one to "Travel the world without leaving the streets of LA with the newest and meatiest food truck to hit the streets – Great Balls on Tires ("G-BOT"). G-BOT serves gourmet meatballs and other savory balls of food." The truck officially launches July 2 from 9AM-3PM at The Music Box on Hollywood Blvd. Preview the menu which offers everything from Kobe meatballs, to crispy chickpea croquettes, to lemongrass pork balls, and don't forget about the Odd Ball: a deep fried alligator tail ball served with mango salsa and spicy jerk sauce on a corn tortilla. Update: Chef Michael David is not launching the food truck. He is simply contributing the first Guest Ball. Thereafter, the truck will have other guest chefs.
