Jason Neroni Leaves Blanca, Potentially Headed for LA

New, 6 comments

Almost a year ago now, NYC chef and self-proclaimed pork provocateur,
Jason Neroni (Porchetta, 10 Downing), revealed plans to move cross country and shack up at Solona Beach's Blanca. The reason for the move? Neroni simply wanted to be closer to the fam. Yesterday Blanca sent out a mass email announcing the restaurant's their new head honcho, SFer chef Gavin Schmidt. As it turns out, Neroni left a few months ago, apparently San Diego residents were not ready for pork prepared in a variety ways or foods cooked sous vide. Anyway, Eater checked in with Neroni who has been on the east coast for the past two months cooking pop-up dinners and who is also in the middle of a cookbook. He plans to return to LA next week where he divulges that "There are things afoot, things of which I must hold close to the chest.... for now." So, just going to throw this out there, but looks like LA might nab Neroni next.
