SANTA MONICA— The Santa Monica Daily Press brings word that on early Tuesday morning, circa 4:30AM, a devastating blaze swept through Dakota Lounge on Wilshire rendering the venue roof-less. The fire demolished everything except for Dakota's sound board and stage, and the Santa Monica Fire Department is looking into the conflagration's cause. Luckily, there were no injuries and right now Dakota hopes to reopen next month. [SMDP via GS]

HOLLYWOOD— Saturday marks the 36th annual Concern Foundation Block Party at Paramount Studios with this year's theme: the circus. Over 50 local restaurants will provide provisions, think Delphine, Akasha, Little Dom's, Larchmont Grill, Tavern plus more than enough booze for a buzz. Tickets run a steep $350 a pop, but hey, it's for a good cause (95% of proceeds go to cancer research). [EaterWire]
