Obika, Cookbook, Tarte Tatin Bakery, Pickelz, MORE!


1) Century City: Headed for the Westfield Century City Mall this September comes Obika, a mozzarella bar set to serve "the freshest buffalo mozzarella and other Italian specialties." [EaterWire]

2) Downtown: Though some Famima!! locations around town have shuttered, a new one is currently under construction at Union Station. Also in the works, a Subway. View the evidence here. [EaterWire]

3) Silver Lake: The old Eat Well, which is becoming another Kokomo Cafe, now has exterior signage in place. Opening date still tbd. [EaterWire]

4) Echo Park: Daily Dish reports that Marta Teege a resident gardner and chef plans to open Cookbook, a co-op green grocer. The shop will sell provisions like fresh fruits, veggies, milk, and butter, in addition to flowers, cookbooks and simple prepared foods. Operations set to run like a CSA, find full details here. 5) Mid-City: West 3rd Street is experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Later this month, Robata Jinya hopes to open their doors and join the new kids on the block. Management is putting the finishing touches on the interior including a robata grill, patio and front bar. [EaterWire] —DG

6) Beverly Hills: This particular stretch of Olympic Boulevard is mostly overlooked, but Tarte Tatin Bakery is coming. The windows are still papered, but the interior is complete, seemingly ready to open. We smell permit issues. Stay tuned. [EaterWire] —DG

7) Beverly Hills: Across from South Beverly Grill comes Pickelz, which from its kebab-enhanced signage, looks like it will serve Mediterranean fare. [GS]

8) Culver City: A new Korean restaurant concept is deep in development at 12565 West Washington Boulevard, next door to gastropub Waterloo & City. The A-frame building that used to house a Mexican restaurant is now listed as being owned by The Kardashian Family Trust. Knibb Design of Venice have taken over demolition and construction and expect to open the "restaurant and bar by the end of the month." David Reese is listed as managing partner. [EaterWire] —DG

9) Los Feliz: Feast brings word of Mother Dough, an under construction eatery surrounded by vague details at the moment. More to come. [EaterWire]

10) Hollywood: San Francisco's Cafe Gratitude will open this winter at the corner of Melrose and Larchmont. Think raw/vegan fare at a higher price point. [GS]

11) West Hollywood: Step aside Absolutely Phobulous and 9021Pho, signage for UnPhoGettable has appeared in the former home of The Courtyard on Santa Monica Blvd. [GS]
