In October 2008 Andy Hewitt (Il Sole) debuted Luau on Bedford, a contemporary version of the 60s tiki eatery. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not receive raves, and just nine months later it closed up shop. But let's not forge the brief period of time when Luau morphed into nighttime haunt Guy's, obviously that didn't work out either. Nonetheless, a new tenant has claimed the smallish space, per the posted signage (on those still tikified doors), the new eatery is named Taberna. Construction has yet to begin, looks like this change of ownership became official just last week. [EaterWire]
