Inspired by a trip to Texas, Michael Gans (The Den) plans to open authentic texas barbecue spot, Smoke City Market, with Ryan Gromfin and Jason Cestaro (GM at the Den). The Sherman Oaks eatery claimed former Hott House home on Van Nuys Blvd and construction has just begun with an expected debut of September 2. Early ply shows a respectable outdoor dining area, still too early to tell for interiors. What to expect? Think along the lines of Texas' Luling City Market, Smitty's and Kreuz's.
