Tucked away in Point Dume Village, chef and owner Paul Shoemaker (Bastide, Water Grill, Providence) has opened a small market driven restaurant called Savory. The simple, tastefully designed space (plus patio) boasts blonde wood from floor to table to bar to the custom-built wine rack behind the bar. Brown wicker chairs add to the restaurant's beachy vibe, it definitely feel like Malibu in here. Cool, calm, collect. Much like the space, the straight forward menu offers a short selection of dishes, ravioli filled with chevre and fresh chanterelles, red and yellow roasted beets, sliced steak with smoked salt serve atop an eggplant puree. But remember, the menu continually changes based on what's in season at the Santa Monica farmers market at local organic farm Vital Zuman. While Shoemaker carefully sources all menu items, he also plays close attention to this wine list which is comprised of lesser known boutique reds and whites. Shoemaker also plans to add several more selections in the near future. Come on down.
