Considering how massively mobbed Santa Monica's The Parlor has always been, it's hard to believe that the sports bar is donzo. However, unlike most shutters, this one was not for lack of business. Back in August The Santa Monica Daily Press brought word that The Parlor would shutter for interior renovations, but as it turns out, the reason for the original closure was angry local residents who claimed that the bar attracted "a rowdy late night crowd and violat[ed] conditions of its conditional use permit (CUP)."
The Parlor attempted to reopen last Thursday for the first NFL game of the season, however owners immediately received a ridiculous citation for "failing to enclose an upstairs patio." So, this past weekend, The Parlor SM announced its permanent shutter, and has since directed patrons to its new location in West Hollywood. Game. Over.
