Curtis Nysmith brought his massive "upscale" sports bar to Hollywood about a year ago, and just six months after its debut he announced plans for a second bar headed to the Westfield Century City mall. He named the venue The Tap Room by Capitol City which was supposed to claim the previous French 75 home, another spacious plot encompassing 7,000 square feet inside with a 1,500 square foot patio. His idea with The Tap Room was to create an elevated dining experience, over 100 beers on tap, an expanded menu, even a raw bar. For whatever reason, as it so goes with real estate, this deal fell through and Nysmith moved across the street to claim the old Kula/Aphrodisiac space at 10351 Santa Monica Blvd. And if you thought Capitol City in Hollywood was a biggie, get this, the new space offers over 10,000 square feet to replicate a classic east coast bar/restaurant with tons of sports viewing capabilities.
According to a press release, Kris Keith stated years ago his goal was to "run all of my competition out of town," so no shocker to hear he is aboard this project as well. Construction is expected to commences mid-December.
