Santa Monica Attempts A Food Truck Lot, Again

New, 4 comments

Earlier this year Santa Monica attempted to provide a playground for the burgeoning mass of mobile vendors continually populating the streets. It seemed like a good idea in theory, but just 24 hours after launching, the Gourmet Food Truck Corner was squashed by police for "zoning issues."

Unsure how to handle the mob of trucks invading the city, officials announced plans to grant food trucks temporary three month permits to park on private properties while a final outcome was determined (still tbd). Anyway, following up with the whole three month private parking situation, the next lot debuts next Tuesday in Santa Monica on the corner of Ocean Park and Main on the property of the California Heritage Museum. Trucks are expected to serve from 5:30-10PM every Tuesday for the next three months. So far Nom Nom, No Reservations, Coolhaus, Don Chow Tacos, Ahn -Joo, India Jones, Phamish and Calbi have signed on, with libations from the Victorian Bar next door.
