NoHo Lands Its Own Gastropub Via The Federal Bar, Opening Next Week

Suffering from a case of last minute permitting delays, NoHo's The Federal Bar should officially open February 8, or at the latest, February 9 (hm, why does that exterior signage remind us of Father's Office exterior imagery?). Conceived by Knitting Factory Entertainment CEO Morgan Margolis, The Federal serves as a neighborhood canteen, somewhere to grab a beer and a bite, choose from 20 craft selections on tap or order a cocktail from the fully stocked bar.

Executive chef Shad Davis (The Belmont, The Counter) and chef Louis Fuentes execute the New American menu which consists of elevated tried and true staples. Guinness hot wings, Wild Turkey meatballs, and IPA spare ribs with melted leeks, clearly there's a booze in food trend here.

As far as aesthetics, Margolis hired designer Rod Sellard of Montage Designs to enhance the former 1920s bank with a modernized classic look composed of exposed brick, a partially copper/partially open industrial ceiling, plus more than enough bars (four in total) to over imbibe.

Above the main dining room and two bars sits a special-events venue, expect live performances plus two more bars, one inside and one on the patio. In those last two pictures note the decorative arches, large windows, and the performance stage straight back.
