On Sunday, Short Cake, the hotly anticipated seasonal bakery companion to the late Amy Pressman and partner Nancy Silverton's Short Order, held a preview taste at the Original Farmers Market during Fall Festival. Photographer R. E. ~ stopped by to try "fabulous cookies" and to document the line of guests waiting for samples. R. E. ~ also brings word that in addition to the launch of Short Cake, SO Coffee, or Single Origin Coffee, a "New Orleans style cold brew coffee" company will share stall space with Short Cake. While we knew that the bakery would serve a variety of "single origin coffee," we didn't realize this was the actual name of a new brand, nor that it would manifest itself with stall space. Aside from the obvious fact that coffee and baked goods are two peas in a pod, there really isn't any great coffee available at the Farmers Market. So, this new addition is A) a most appropriate pair for Short Cake, but B) a fantastic addition to the Farmers Market as a whole.
