After operating The Bungalow Club for 10 years on Melrose, owner Anat Escher has shuttered the venue and today debuts its next self, Bugatta Restaurant & Bar. Escher, who designed the space, is going for a relaxed and contemporary, urban and sophisticated vibe. There's seating for 20 at the bar, meanwhile the lounge area feels Miami-esque with its white canopy drapery behind which hide white booths.

Not surprisingly, the dining experience here follows the mostly small plate mantra, sort of a muddled California fusion situation that calls for organizations like Ahi Poke, Corn Mango Salsa Atop Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, and skewers of Fillet Mignon with Cherry Tomatoes and a Red Wine Demi Sauce. If "a large selection of beer on tap and a carefully curated wine list" aren't to your fancy, perhaps a $10, 10-ounce martini might take the edge off. Sweeter creations sound like an Elderflower Gimlet or a Lavender Cosmo. Hours of operation run Mon-Wed 4-11PM, Thu 4PM-midnight, Fri-Sat 4PM-2AM.
