Just like at The Standard in NYC, as of about a week ago The Standard downtown has added a biergarten, too. Those Craigslist posts from back in May have been realized and The Standard's rooftop now serves a German menu of currywurst (seems like currywurst is everywhere these days), bratwurst, and weisswurst designed by Austrian chef Gutenbrunner of Wallsé in NYC. As for beers, on offer are the following three: Bitburger Premium Pils; Licher Hefeweizen; and a dark Kostritzer. Just like in New York, patrons purchase tickets (here $8) for food and drink, one ticket affords either two sausages, a salad, pretzel, glass of beer, or wine.
Will The Standard on Sunset score its own biergarten, too? No, but a new concept is still in the works.
