Rumor has it that some major changes are about to go down at the house of Wynn. First up, as previously reported, the Tower Suites’ lobby and Tableau restaurant have shuttered for a facelift. Both are set to reopen before New Years, but in the interim, Alex Stratta’s former den of haute cuisine has been converted into a temporary VIP lobby. Once the Tower Suites’ lobby reopens, the former Alex space will chrysalis into a new nightclub call Climax, operated by Sean Christie’s Las Vegas Nightlife Group (Surrender Nightclub, Encore Beach Club).
Meanwhile, co-owner and managing partner Jesse Waits’ Tryst and XS nightclubs are also in for some changes. Word on the street is that Tryst will undergo a renovation next year. In addition, those who have recently strolled through the Esplanade between Wynn and Encore may have noticed quite a few store closures. Those shutters are to make way for a better queue structure for XS.
As for restaurant goings on, the entrance to Chef Mark LoRusso’s Botero is being redone, and there is also talk that Chef Devin Hashimoto’s Okada will shutter in February to complete a two to three month renovation. But, that’s not all! Supposedly Rene Langer’s Switch may be donezo come March. Apparently, this spaced is destined to become a Latin concept as Wynn forges a second partnership with Michael Morton. Morton already operates the “food and wine hideaway” Le Cave and is the son of Morton’s of Chicago founder Arnie Morton. — David Morris
